State polls: Status quo in Kedah and Penang, says EC chairman


PUTRAJAYA: It is status quo for Kedah and Penang, which will remain under Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan respectively.

Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said Perikatan won 19 out of 36 seats contested in Kedah, thus obtaining a majority of over 50% out of the overall seats contested.

"As of 10.34pm, Aug 12, 2023, Pakatan Harapan has won 21 seats out of the 40 state seats (in Penang), thus securing a majority of over 50% out of the overall seats contested," he said in a press conference at the EC headquarters here on Saturday (Aug 12).
